Relief Society is the Lord's organization for the women of the Church. Although the individual circumstances of women in the Church may change over time, the purposes of Relief Society stay the same.

"We have a vital role to play in helping build the kingdom of God and preparing for the Lord's coming," Sister Julie B. Beck, Relief Society general president, said in the February 2011 visiting teaching message. "In fact, the Lord's work cannot be accomplished without the help of His daughters. Because of that, the Lord expects us to increase our offering. He expects us to fulfill the purpose of Relief Society as never before."

Whether it is increasing one's personal righteousness, aiding another sister in the Church through ministering one to another or strengthening one's own family, it is the purpose of Relief Society to help women and their families to prepare for the blessings of eternal life.

"Through Relief Society we practice being disciples of Christ," Sister Beck said during general conference in October 2007. "We learn what He would have us learn, we do what He would have us do, and we become what He would have us become."
