New boundaries announced for several missions

Five new missions of the Church are being created in Zambia, Benin, Peru, the Philippines and Mexico, while five missions in Portugal, Switzerland, Canada and the United States are being combined with neighboring missions.

Following is an area-by-area rundown of the changes, which will be effective with changes in mission leadership in July. Please refer to the accompanying maps for new mission boundaries.

Africa Southeast Area

Zambia Lusaka

The Zambia Lusaka Mission will be created by a division of the Zimbabwe Harare Mission. The new mission will also include the country of Malawi.

Africa West Area

Benin Cotonou

The Benin Cotonou Mission, comprising the countries of Benin and Togo, will be created by a division of the Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) Abidjan Mission.

Mexico Area

Mexico Mexico City Southeast

The Mexico Mexico City Southeast Mission is being created by realigning three neighboring missions: Mexico Mexico City East, Mexico Mexico City Northwest and Mexico Mexico City South. The new mission is the sixth in the Mexico City area, which has a population of more than 19 million.

Philippines Area

Philippines Quezon City North

The Philippines Quezon City North Mission is being created by dividing the Philippines Manila and Philippines Quezon City missions.

South America Northwest Area

Peru Chiclayo

The Peru Chiclayo Mission is being created by dividing the Peru Piura and Peru Trujillo missions on the Pacific coast of that nation, making a total of 10 missions in Peru.

North America Northeast Area

The Canada Toronto East and West missions will be combined. The name of the resulting mission will be the Canada Toronto Mission.

The Connecticut Hartford Mission will become part of the Massachusetts Boston Mission.

Europe Area

The Portugal Porto Mission will become part of the neighboring Portugal Lisbon Mission.

The Switzerland Geneva Mission will become part of a realignment of the France Paris and France Toulouse missions. The headquarters of the current France Toulouse Mission will be moved to Lyon, and the mission will be renamed the France Lyon Mission.

North America Southeast Area

The Georgia Macon Mission will become part of a realignment of four neighboring missions. They are Florida Jacksonville, Florida Tallahassee, Georgia Atlanta and South Carolina Columbia.
