KIRTLAND, Ohio

Nearly 600 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including seminary students, full-time missionaries and local church leaders, will gather in the Kirtland Temple on March 27 to commemorate the 175th Anniversary of the Kirtland Temple dedication.

The Community of Christ Historic Foundation, owners of the Kirtland Temple, made the building available to the Cleveland and Kirtland Ohio stakes for morning and evening services to mark March 27, 1836 dedication of the building by the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Elder Walter C. Selden, Area Authority, will preside, and both services will be conducted by William R. Titera, Cleveland Ohio Stake president. Historian and Kirtland Ohio Stake Patriarch Karl Anderson will relate events surrounding the dedication of the Church's first temple; Ohio Cleveland Mission President Darwin D. Sorenson will discuss the keys of the gathering of Israel; Kirtland Ohio Stake president Michael B. Haymond will review the gospel of Abraham and its attendant blessings; Columbus Ohio Temple President Edward J. Brandt will discuss the sealing powers delivered by Elijah; and Elder Selden will conclude with his witness of the Savior.

Temple attendance will by ticket only due to the building's limited capacity. Both the 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. services also will be broadcast to the Kirtland Ohio Stake Center to accommodate the expected overflow.
