FAYETTEVILLE , N.C.
All Church members and missionaries are safe following severe storms in the southern United States.
The National Weather Service recorded more than 200 tornado reports, with 90 in North Carolina alone. Nearly 50 people have been confirmed dead, with more than 100 others injured.
Hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed and thousands of residents left without power.
Two member homes in the Fayetteville North Carolina Stake and one member home in the Chesapeake Virginia Stake were destroyed, according to a Church welfare report. Priesthood leaders are attending to the needs of these families.
Dozens of other member homes and apartments incurred minor damage, according to the report. Storms damaged the roof of one meetinghouse in Roanoke, N.C. Several hundred members participated in work parties throughout the weekend to assist members and neighbors.
