Perfect example
It was said of the Savior that He "went about doing good … for God was with him." May we follow that perfect example. In this sometimes precarious journey through mortality, may we also follow that advice from the Apostle Paul which will help to keep us safe and on course: "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." — "Looking back and Moving Forward," April 2008 general conference
No regrets
Send that note to the friend you've been neglecting; give your child a hug; give your parents a hug; say "I love you" more; always express your thanks. Never let a problem to be solved become more important than a person to be loved. Friends move away, children grow up, loved ones pass on. It's so easy to take others for granted, until that day when they're gone from our lives and we are left with feelings of "what if" and "if only." Said author Harriet Beecher Stowe, "The bitterest tears shed over graves are for words left unsaid and deeds left undone." — "Finding Joy in the Journey," October 2008 general conference
The Lord's hands
My brothers and sisters, we are surrounded by those in need of our attention, our encouragement, our support, our comfort, our kindness — be they family members, friends, acquaintances or strangers. We are the Lord's hands here upon the earth, with the mandate to serve and to lift His children. He is dependent upon each of us. — "What Have I Done for Someone Today?" October 2009 general conference
True love
True love can alter human lives and change human nature. ... I plead with you to have the courage to refrain from judging and criticizing those around you, as well as the courage to make certain everyone is included and feels loved and valued. — "May You Have Courage," Young Women general meeting, April 2009
Standards
Don't be afraid to walk out of a movie, turn off a television set, or change a radio station if what's being presented does not meet your Heavenly Father's standards. In short, if you have any question about whether a particular movie, book or other form of entertainment is appropriate, don't see it, don't read it, don't participate. — "Preparation Brings Blessings," April 2010 general conference
The call of duty
Time marches on. Duty keeps cadence with that march. Duty does not dim nor diminish. Catastrophic conflicts come and go, but the war waged for the souls of men continues without abatement. Like a clarion call comes the word of the Lord to you and to me, and to priesthood holders everywhere. I reiterate that word: "Wherefore, now let every man learn his duty, and to act in the office in which he is appointed, in all diligence" (Doctrine and Covenants 107:99). — "True to Our Priesthood Trust," October 2006 general conference
Decisions determine destiny
"Now we see coming into focus the responsibility to choose, that inevitable crisis at the crossroads of life. He who would lead you down waits patiently for a dark night, a wavering will, a confused conscience, a mixed-up mind. Are you prepared to make the decisions at the crossroads? I can't stress too strongly that decisions determine destiny. You can't make eternal decisions without eternal consequences." — "Decisions Determine Destiny," CES Fireside for young adults, Brigham Young University, Nov. 5, 2005
