Six new temple presidents have been called by the First Presidency. Their wives have been called to serve as matrons. They will begin service in January.
Richard Cless Crockett, 76, Castro Valley 1st Ward, San Leandro California Stake, called as president of the Oakland California Temple, succeeding President Richard A. Hunter. President Crockett's wife, Priscilla Rose Crockett, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a sealer in the Oakland California Temple. He served as president of the France Paris Mission, stake president, stake president's counselor and bishop. A retired physician, he was born in Hayward, Calif., to Vera Sanders and Hyrum Clessimore Crockett.
Sister Crockett serves as a visiting teacher. She served with her husband as he presided over the France Paris Mission. She has also served as a ward Relief Society president's counselor, ward Young Women president's counselor, and temple ordinance worker. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ford Thomas and Beulah Hinckley Rose.
Robert Peter Haight, 75, Willow Creek 1st Ward, Sandy Utah Willow Creek Stake, called as president of the Jordan River Utah Temple, succeeding President F. Wayne Chamberlain. President Haight's wife, Dorothy Lee Hurst Haight, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a Sunday School teacher and as a sealer in the Draper Utah Temple. He served as president of the Canada Vancouver Mission, high councilor, bishop and counselor to a bishop and branch president. Executive vice president of Huntsman Cancer Foundation, he was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to David B. and Ruby Olson Haight.
Sister Haight serves as a Sunday School teacher. She served with her husband as he presided over the Canada Vancouver Mission, and has also served as a ward Relief Society president. She was born in San Jose, Calif., to Donald Byron and Elba Katherine Hurst.
Barry Lee, 66, Happy Valley Ward, Adelaide Australia Stake, called as president of the Adelaide Australia Temple, succeeding President Philip F. Howes. President Lee's wife, Pauline Joy Ramsey Lee, will serve as temple matron. He serves as an institute teacher and as an area Family History advisor. He has served as an Area Seventy, president of the Australia Melbourne West Mission, mission president's counselor, area Public Affairs director and stake president. A retired principal management consultant, he was born in Preston, England, to Albert George and Hilda Miller Lee.
Sister Lee serves with her husband as an institute teacher and as an area Family History advisor. She also served with him as he presided over the Australia Melbourne West Mission. She has served as stake Relief Society president's counselor, stake and ward Young Women president and stake Young Women president's secretary. She was born in Adelaide, Australia, to Charles Eric and Dorothy Jean Thompson Ramsey.
Glenn William Nielson, 66, Cody 2nd Ward, Cody Wyoming Stake, called as president of the Billings Montana Temple, succeeding President Ronald M. Morrison. President Nielson's wife, D. Yvonne Hutchings Nielson, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a stake president's counselor, and has served as a stake mission president, stake clerk, high councilor and bishop. The chairman and CEO of Y-Tex Corporation, he was born in Cody, Wyo., to Glenn E. and Oliver Wood Nielson.
Sister Nielson serves as a ward Young Women advisor. She has served as a stake Relief Society president's counselor, and as ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president. She was born in Merced, Calif., to Arden B. and Doris M. Michael Hutchings.
Richard Leslie Norton, 72, Mar Vista Ward, Los Angeles California Santa Monica Stake, called as president of the Toronto Ontario Temple, succeeding President Stephen M. Hadley. President Norton's wife, Joyce LaRae McClellan Norton, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a stake high councilor and has served as a stake president, stake president's counselor and bishop. A retired vice president of Planning of Merle Norman Cosmetics, Inc., he was born in Ogden, Utah, to Leslie Thomas and Loretta Mae Gibbons Norton.
Sister Norton serves as a stake Young Women president. She served as a stake Young Women president's counselor, ward Relief Society president and ward Primary president's counselor. She was born in Santa Monica, Calif., to Marvin and Beth Stephenson McClellan.
Brian Cheever Swinton, 66, Great Falls Ward, McLean Virginia Stake, called as president of the Washington D.C. Temple, succeeding President Earl C. Tingey. President Swinton's wife, Sue Annette Stayner Swinton, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a Sunday School teacher and has served as president of the Washington D.C. Mission, St. George Utah Temple Visitors' Center director, stake president, stake president's counselor, high councilor, and bishop. The principal of Brian C. Swinton & Associates, he was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Elden Guest Miller and Venice Cheever Swinton.
Sister Swinton serves as a Sunday School teacher. She served with her husband as he presided over the Washington D.C. Mission and at the St. George Utah Visitors' Center. She has served as a stake and ward Relief Society president, and stake and ward Young Women president. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Horace Burns and June Larsen Stayner.
