President Henry B. Eyring, first counselor in the First Presidency, will preside at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple on Saturday, Sept. 17.
The groundbreaking ceremony, which will begin at 10 a.m., will be broadcast to each meetinghouse within the temple district. Members within the district are invited to attend at their respective chapels.
The Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple will serve Church members from eight stakes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
Elder Robert B. Smith, an Area Seventy, said Church members in the temple district are very excited about the upcoming event.
"Some of our members have been looking forward [to this event] for many years," he said.
After ground is broken, he added, members will feel they are "one step closer to having the temple open and ready to go."
