In early August 2011, the downtown location of the Church Distribution Services store, a long-time fixture in the basement of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, closed and moved down the street into the Deseret Book flagship store on South Temple just across the street from the south entrance of Temple Square. The new location of the Church Distribution Services maintains all pricing and policies for distribution items, including sacred clothing. A separate entrance is available to customers.
The move comes in conjunction with an agreement the Church made with Deseret Book to serve as a partner for Distribution Services products. The downtown Salt Lake store location is one of more than a dozen Deseret Book stores now offering a full range of distribution items.
