SALT LAKE CITY
Bishop H. David Burton, the Church's Presiding Bishop, joined 38 prominent leaders of different faiths on Jan. 12 in signing a letter advocating traditional marriage and religious freedom.
The open letter to "religious leaders in the United States and all Americans" stated that "the promotion and protection of marriage — the union of one man and one woman as husband and wife — is a matter of the common good and serves the well-being of the couple, of children, of civil society and all people."
The full text of the letter, titled "Marriage and Religious Freedom: Fundamental Goods That Stand or Fall Together," can be found on lds.org (newsroom.lds.org/article/bishop-burton-promotes-religious-freedom-and-marriage).
