The Primary general presidency delivered a personal thank you to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and The Orchestra on Temple Square for their newest album, "Teach Me to Walk in the Light," during a rehearsal on Thursday, Jan. 31.
Sister Rosemary M. Wixom and her counselors, Sister Jean A. Stevens and Sister Cheryl A. Esplin, were so touched by the music in "Teach Me to Walk in the Light" that they gave copies of the album to their entire Primary board at Christmas time, according to Scott Barrick, Mormon Tabernacle Choir general manager. The Primary presidency also wanted to thank the choir and orchestra for their "Give Said the Little Stream" music video featured on the Mormon Tabernacle Choir YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/MormonTabChoir). At the time of publication, the video had more than 25,000 views since its release almost one week earlier.
The Primary leaders thanked the choir and orchestra for the album that would become a musical legacy for children and other Church members for years to come. During their visit, the presidency posed for a photo with Tabernacle Choir president Ron B. Jarrett, music director Mack Wilberg and associate music director Ryan T. Murphy.
Songs included in the album were required to be from either the Children's Songbook or one of the Primary program's sacrament meeting supplements, Brother Barrick said.
