Young Women meeting: 'Stand ye in holy places'

Speakers at the meeting will include the Young Women general presidency — Sister Elaine S. Dalton and her counselors, Sister Mary N. Cook and Sister Ann M. Dibb — as well as a member of the First Presidency.
"The meeting is an important opportunity for mothers, daughters, and Young Women leaders to hear a message specifically for them from a member of the First Presidency, a prophet, seer and revelator," said Sister Dalton.
Sister Cook said the theme gives young women a chance to focus, for an entire year, on the invitation to stand in holy places.
"The theme is important at this time because youth are living in a media-saturated world with messages that distract them from their noble purpose," said Sister Dibb. "Standing in holy places will qualify young women for the guidance and companionship of the Holy Ghost, which can guide, comfort, warn and teach them all things they should do. The message is to prepare for the time when the Savior will come again — to stand in His presence."
The Young Women general presidency hopes all young women, their mothers and Young Women leaders will attend, whether in person in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, or by watching the broadcast. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time and will be translated into more than 50 languages and broadcast by satellite to many areas of the world. In addition, the meeting will be available on the Internet at conference.lds.org.
It will also be available on various other cable, satellite, and Internet TV or radio stations throughout the world, including Mormon Channel HD Radio and the Mormon Channel app on Roku. "We want each young woman to feel uplifted and valued; that as they stand in holy places they will be able to accomplish the work our prophets have set for them as mothers, leaders, missionaries and faithful daughters of God," said Sister Cook.
Sister Dibb added, "As we are in the right place at the right time, we can feel the Spirit and receive messages that are just to us."
Where possible, the First Presidency encourages meeting together in chapels to view the broadcast.
"When we meet together in groups, we enjoy a common spiritual experience," said Sister Dalton. "It bonds us closer as women. It also invites the Spirit of the Lord to teach us individually."
For units that do not receive satellite broadcasts, recordings of the meeting will be available through local materials management offices.
Each year, the meeting is also archived in dozens of languages at conference.lds.org for future reference. Addresses from the General Young Women Meeting will also appear in the May 2013 issue of the Ensign and Liahona magazines.
"Personally, I hope every young woman will leave this meeting knowing that they are beloved daughters of our Heavenly Father and that standing in holy places will enable them to have the protection and direction they need in their lives today," said Sister Dalton. "I also hope that they will know of our gratitude and our love and admiration for them as a presidency. The young women and their mothers and leaders are incredible."
