Hales on Oct. 3, 1992, at age 54, and first counselor to Presiding Bishop Merrill J. Bateman on April 2, 1994. Former stake president and temple sealer. Former secretary to the Presiding Bishopric for 14 years. Received bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Utah and master's degree from University of Michigan in business administration. Born April 26, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harold Nelson and Blanche Mabel Swanson Burton. Wife, Barbara Matheson Burton; parents of five children

Called as first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric Dec. 27, 1995; sustained April 6, 1996. Sustained as second counselor to Presiding Bishop Robert D. Hales on Oct. 3, 1992, at age 56, and as second counselor to Presiding Bishop Merrill J. Bateman on April 2, 1994. Former stake president and bishop. Was managing director of the Church's Finance and Records Department, board member of various Church-related corporations. Received bachelor's degree in political science from BYU and master's degree in business administration from Indiana University. Born Feb. 6, 1936, in Preston, Idaho, to Phenoi Harrison and Ona Crockett Edgley. Wife, Pauline Nielson Edgley; parents of six children.

Called as second counselor in the Presiding Bishopric Dec. 27, 1995, at age 54; sustained April 6, 1996. Former president of Germany Frankfurt Mission, stake president, bishop and counselor, and high councilor. Was managing director of Church Welfare Services. Received bachelor's degree in banking and finance from University of Utah. Born Aug. 18, 1941, in St. George, Utah, to Lawrence and Margaret Savage McMullin. Wife, Carolyn Jean Gibbs McMullin; parents of eight children.
