Born in Washington, D.C., to Albert D. and Jennie Romney Swensen; received bachelor's degree in English from BYU; former member of Primary general board, counselor in stake Relief Society presidency, ward Relief Society and Young Women president, counselor in ward Primary presidency and volunteer docent at the Museum of Church History and Art; served on elementary and high school PTA boards and on BYU Women's Conference Committee; married Dennis R. Lifferth; parents of seven children.
