  • New mission presidents

    Seven mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency to begin their serviceabout July 1. Their mission assignments will be announced later.

    In east-central Europe, the Czech Republic's people speak Czech and Slovak, both of which are official languages. Some 65 percent of the population is Roman Catholic.
  • Mission to be created in Bulgaria

    The creation of the Bulgaria Sofia Mission, which will be Europe's 37th and the Church's 268th, has been announced by the First Presidency.
    The new mission is the second to be created in eastern Europe this year. The other one is the Germany Berlin Mission. Both missions will be operative July 1. Four new missions in eastern Europe were created in 1990, the Finland Helsinki East, Czechoslovakia Prague, Hungary Budapest and Poland Warsaw.
  • Eight new missions announced

    Eight new missions in Europe, including missions in Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland and Greece, have been announced by the First Presidency.
    The new missions - the most ever created at one time on that continent - will begin operation July 1. The new missions are:
