    Changes in assignment have been made for the 2011 new mission presidents listed below. They will begin their service around July 1st.

  • Elder Larry R. Lawrence: True conversion propelled new Seventy

    As a young man growing up in Tucson, Ariz., Larry R. Lawrence was the oldest of three brothers in a family that were not members of the Church. He had many friends who would invite him to participate in Church activities, but he always had to decline because of his parents' wishes. Still, he noticed something was different about Latter-day Saints.
  • New temple presidents

    George Arthur Oakes, 73, Foxhill Ward, North Salt Lake Utah Stake, called as president of the Campinas Brazil Temple, succeeding President Izaias P. Nogueira. President Oakes' wife, Jeannette Nellie Hubbert Oakes, will serve as temple matron. A ward mission leader, he has served as president of the Brazil North Mission, stake president, stake president's counselor, bishop and temple ordinance worker. Retired attorney and law firm partner, he was born in Inglewood, Calif., to Phillip Byron and Gladys Marie Leinnger Oakes.
