    A Mormon immigrant company under direction of Samuel Brannan departed on the ship Brooklyn from New York on 4 February 1846 en route to the Great Salt Lake valley via California. The group under the direction of Brannan navigated the southern tip of South America around Cape Horn and arrived at Yerba Buena on 31 July 1846.

    Sumo wrestler Kelly Gneiting of the Window Rock Ward, Chinle Arizona Stake, is the two-time defending national champion in his classification and will represent the United States at the World Sumo Championships in October.
