Willard Richards

  • More than dances

In the shadow of the monument marking the location where President Brigham Young first gazed at the Salt Lake Valley and pronounced it "the right place," a fixture of Utah territorial social life was revived July 25 as part of this year's Pioneer Day celebrations in Salt Lake City.
  • Clear priorities set the stage for spiritual growth

A surgeon by trade, Elder Kent F. Richards finished performing a life-saving procedure on a young man rushed to the emergency room with a ruptured appendix. Elder Richards set down his instruments, stepped back from the operating table and disrobed – first his mask, then the gown and lastly his gloves.
  • 'A record kept' among His people

A historical event in its own right, the new 230,000-square-foot Church History Library was dedicated June 20 after four years of construction at its prime downtown location across North Temple Street from the Church Office Building. President Thomas S. Monson presided and offered the dedicatory prayer.
  • Worth of keeping an accurate record

While at Winter Quarters en route to the Salt Lake Valley in 1846, the Quorum of the Twelve discussed Willard Richards and his office as Church Historian, said Benjamin Park in his Church History Symposium presentation.
