  • A heroic incident

    One of the more heroic incidents of Church history occurred during the Missouri persecutions of 1838, when, beginning Nov. 9, Joseph Smith and six other prisoners were chained together in a vacant log cabin in Richmond for more than two weeks while a hearing was held to see if they should be tried for an assortment of trumped up charges.

  • Chile's golden anniversary

    On Oct. 15, more than 22,000 Chilean Latter-day Saints gathered in an open stadium located in Santiago to commemorate with a cultural program the 50th anniversary of the creation of the first Chilean mission. The event was broadcast to all the stakes in Chile and selected stake centers in the United States.
