    The First Presidency has called the following to serve as temple presidents and matrons.
  • Hong Kong: Most significant experience

    President Gordon B. Hinckley dedicated a building here on Tuesday, Aug. 2, that replaced a well-known, historic building that he bought for the Church in 1960, and was used by it for many years.

    In 1978, John R. Stone felt he should learn Chinese after hearing President Spencer W. Kimball's clarion call to members to learn new languages that new doors to nations might be opened for the preaching of the gospel.

    The passing of two beloved members of the Quorum of the Twelve and the calling of two vigorous and experienced men to succeed them signaled a time of transition in the Church, even as time-tested values and ideals were reaffirmed during 2004.
