    Several years ago, Larry M. Gibson joined his Scout-age son, Colby, on a grueling hike that challenged Colby's troop and its leaders to traverse 50 miles in 24 hours. An hour or two after successfully completing their adventure, Brother Gibson went to check on his son, who was resting in his bedroom. He found the boy physically fatigued and emotionally spent.
