Music has the power to bring the Spirit of the lord into our meetings. Prelude music prepares us to participate. Hymns, songs and anthems inspire, teach and strengthn. They are a means to expressing prayers and gratitude to our Father in Heaven. Postlude music extends the spirit of the meeting after the benediction.
Music and hymn singing should be used to advantage, not only in Church meetings of all kinds, but in the homes and in the personal lives of Latter-day Saints (see First Presidency Preface, Hymns, 1985, pp. ix-x.)Chruch Music Guide for Priesthood Leaders, 1986
