And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake and the gospel's,
But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. - Mark 10:29-30.
I was born in Belgium. When I was 11 years old, my mother was taught by the missionaries and was converted to the Church. We were baptized in a cold river in February 1924, but I was so happy I did not feel the cold. My mother taught me the gospel.
I very much wanted someday to go to America but we could not, and later I married and my children were born. I had the same wish to go to Utah and raise my children there, but then World War II began and, of course, we were unable to leave. After the war we tried to save our money for the journey to Utah. Oh, how we prayed and worked to be able to go to America. My husband and I wanted so much to be sealed in the temple and to someday go on a mission.
We had difficulty getting a visa for my husband, as he was born in Yugoslavia. Finally, we did receive his visa so we sold all that we had except our linen and some clothes to pay for the trip.
After a difficult trip we were able to make it to Utah and be sealed with our children in the Salt Lake Temple. Our three boys all went on missions and married in the temple. Also, four of our grandchildren have gone on missions.
Since that time I have been blessed to work in genealogy and do work for my ancestors in the temple. When I read this scripture, I felt it was a promise to me.
