The 169th Semiannual General Conference of the Church will be broadcast over the Internet by LDSWorld.com. The audio broadcasts will reach as many as 100,000 people worldwide in 12 languages.
With more than 10 million members of the Church in over 160 nations, it is difficult for members to participate in general conference. While Internet broadcasts of conference have previously been available on a limited basis, this is the first time the conference will be available over the Internet on a wide scale.
After receiving conference on the Internet in the past, a listener in Brazil wrote, "Being able to hear the words of the prophet and the apostles live through the Internet was such a great blessing."
A member in Australia added, "We felt great gratitude in our hearts to be able to hear the prophet's words in our home. We thank the Lord for the technology that makes this possible."
LDSWorld.com, a service of Millennial Star Network Inc. a new Church-owned company, will provide the broadcast at www.generalconference.com.
The broadcasts, at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Oct. 2 and 3 (all MDT), will be transmitted in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, German, French, Samoan, Tongan, Mandarin, Cambodian, Korean and Cantonese.
Those who are interested in the Internet broadcasts are encouraged to visit the site early for instructions.
