Church News: About the cover

Filled with news about President Zachary Taylor's address to the Republicans and advertisements assuring "scurvy effectually cured," the first issues of the Deseret News rolled off the press at the rate of two per minute on June 15, 1850. Portrayed by artist Paul Clowes at the venerable newspaper's centennial, the painting depicts the start of one of the oldest newspapers west of the Mississippi River, and Utah's oldest corporation. The story is on page 3.
