President Boyd K. Packer, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve, and his wife, Donna Smith Packer, recently observed their 55th wedding anniversary.
Natives of Brigham City, Utah, they met after his return from service in the Army Air Corps from 1942-46; they married on July 28, 1947, in the Logan Utah Temple. Their anniversary was celebrated July 27 at a family dinner attended by 104 people: their children, grandchildren and their spouses, and great-grandchildren. Except for eight serving as missionaries throughout the Church, all members of the family were present.
The theme for the celebration was "A Legacy of Covenant Choices." Display tables depicted family memories from five areas of focus: faith in daily living and in the future, courage in times of trial, power in family unity, service to God and mankind, and vision of eternities together.
Parents of 10 children, President and Sister Packer say they count as their greatest blessing the association they have with their family.
