YAMOUSSOUKRO, Ivory Coast — A senior sister missionary serving in the Ivory Coast Abidjan Mission was killed in her apartment in Yamoussoukro Aug. 3 in an apparent robbery attempt. Sister Adele Atchley, 65, of Santa Monica, Calif., had been serving with her husband, Elder Ronald L. Atchley, for five months.

Elder Atchley was away from the apartment when the crime was committed. Local authorities and the U. S. Embassy are investigating the crime.

"On Saturday, August 3, Adele Atchley was killed in her apartment during an apparent robbery attempt. Sister Atchley, 65, was serving a mission with her husband in the Ivory Coast Abidjan Mission in the town of Yamoussoukro. Local authorities and the U. S. Embassy are investigating the crime.

Sister Atchley had been serving as a missionary for 5 months and was from Santa Monica, California.

Elder Atchley was away from the apartment when the crime was committed."
