The First Presidency has called seven new Missionary Training Center presidents who will begin their service in January 2003.
The new leaders and their wives are:
Anthony Ivins Bentley Jr., 65, East Mill Creek 12th Ward, Salt Lake East Millcreek North Stake, assigned to Mexico; former president of the Argentina Buenos Aires North Mission, counselor in stake mission presidency, high councilor. Earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and juris doctor degree from the University of Utah. Born July 15, 1937, in Mesa, Ariz., to Anthony Ivins Bentley Sr. and Ella Farnsworth Bentley. Married Wendy Josinette Whiting, daughter of Frank M. and Johanna Jeanette Cook Whiting. Parents of eight children.
Larry Bodhaine, 66, Grove Creek 10th Ward, Grove Creek Utah Stake; assigned to England; former president of the Ghana Accra Mission, president of the Riverside California Stake, high priests group leader and bishop. Earned a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University. Born Sept. 27, 1936, in Denver, Colo., to Frank A. and Doris D. Bodhaine. Married RaeLene Forsberg, daughter of Herman Forsberg and Bertha Cazier Wilson. Parents of seven children.
Stephen George Boyden, 62, Yale 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Bonneville Stake; assigned to Spain; former president of the Mexico City North Mission, bishop and counselor in stake presidency, activities committee chairman. Earned a bachelor's degree and juris doctor degree from the University of Utah. Born May 3, 1940, to John S. and Orpha Sweeten Boyden. Married Patricia Shumway, daughter of John and Mildred Lund Shumway. Parents of six children.
Limhi Ontiveros, 65, Winder 2nd Ward, Salt Lake Winder Stake, assigned to Colombia; former president of the Mexico Monterrey Mission, ward mission leader, high priests group leader, high councilor and stake executive secretary. Earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Brigham Young University. Born Feb. 25, 1937, to Nefi and Delfina Ontiveros. Married Ruth Veone Shelley, daughter of Elmer "J" and Rega Clark Shelley. Parents of eight children.
Allen Carlsen Ostergar Jr., 60, Provo Oak Hills 4th Ward, Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake, assigned to Brazil; former president of the Kentucky Louisville Mission, stake president, bishop and Sunday School teacher. Earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Brigham Young University. Born Jan. 3, 1942, to Allen C. and Martha Deon Gooch Munson Ostergar. Married Nancy Sigrid Farnsworth, daughter of Harry C. and Ruth E. Oquist Farnsworth. Parents of eight children.
Lloyd Vincent Owen, 69, North Canyon 3rd Ward, Bountiful Utah North Canyon Stake; assigned to Provo; former president of the Utah Salt Lake City North Mission, stake president, bishop and institute teacher with his wife. did not earn college degree Born Feb. 12, 1933, to Vincent E. and Lucille May Owen. Married Peggy Eathel Tuel, daughter of Orville Prentice and Zola Doris Dodge Tuel. Parents of six children.
James L. Shurtleff, 72, Willow Creek 3rd Ward, Utah Willow Creek Stake; assigned to Dominican Republic; former president of the Spain Malaga Mission, bishop, temple worker and Conference Center host. Earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University and a master's and doctorate from the University of Utah. Born June 12, 1930, to James H. and Arvilla Wallace Shurtleff. Married Sandra Wilcock, daughter of Vernile Eyre Wilcock and Ola Dickson. Parents of four children.
