HAILEY, Idaho Several hundred people, many who were not members of the Church, attended an emergency preparedness fair Sept. 21 at the meetinghouse here during which there were seminars, booths and a free dinner for the public.
Organizations taking part in the fair, which drew visitors from Sun Valley, Wood River Valley and other communities, included the American Red Cross, fire and rescue crews, Life Flight personnel and the county sheriff's office. Church volunteers sponsored booths on food storage and first aid preparation. The Burley Idaho Cannery also sponsored a booth. In addition, Life Flight landed the helicopter in front of the meetinghouse, and five fire trucks and ambulances from the local services also were on hand for public inspection. The firemen donned their fire-fighting and chemical protection outfits and roamed the fair, to the delight of children of all ages.
"Your preparedness fair was a resounding success, much more so than I anticipated," local businessman Carl Nelson told Bishop Ralph Daniels. "That is a good indicator of the consciousness level of the Wood River Valley."
