Ruth Hudson Hale, 94, prominent playwright who with her husband, James Nathan Hale, created skits in 1980 for visitors to Nauvoo, Ill., the genesis for today's performances there, died April 20, 2003, in Salt Lake City. Sister Hale and her husband, who died in 1994, were also co-authors of more than 70 plays, many of which were published in MIA playbooks. They also appeared in Church films.
Mary Henrietta Peirce Howells, 98, who served with her husband, Rulon S. Howells, when he presided over the Brazilian Mission from 1935-1938 and 1949-1953, died March 20, 2003, in Salt Lake City. Sister Howells was also a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for 28 years.
