Honorary counsul for Germany named

LOUISVILLE, KY. — Mark C. Blackwell, a counselor in the presidency of the Louisville Kentucky Stake, has been appointed as Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. His appointment from German President Johannes Rau was formally delivered by Gerhard Einheuser of the Chicago Consulate General's Office on April 15.

Brother Blackwell, an attorney, will be under the jurisdiction of the German consulate in Chicago. Serving where there is no diplomatic mission for Germany, he will provide information and emergency assistance as well as authenticate signatures on official documents.

"This establishes an important tie between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The functions that Mark will be performing on behalf of the German government will provide an excellent resource for the City of Louisville as well as the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky," said Kevin Hable, managing partner of Brother Blackwell's law firm — Wyatt, Tarrant & Combs, LLP.
