NEW DARKHAN, Mongolia — Buyanjargal Batjargal and his wife, Mira Markhashkhan, of the New Darkhan Branch in Mongolia were honored with the "Golden Rose" Award March 4.

Given by the Organization for Mongolian Women and the local government for the Latter-day Saint couple's "family values" and "artistic accomplishment," the award was presented in a special ceremony at the Women's Palace for Culture here.

The couple married in 1996 and joined the Church later that year. He serves as second counselor in the Darkhan Branch presidency. They are parents of three daughters, ages 8, 2, and 8 months.

The Golden Rose Award is given as an incentive to young parents as encouragement for them to raise their children righteously and to live honorable lives. This award is given in conjunction with the Golden Kin Award presented to older parents who have successfully raised honorable families.
