Hygiene kits for children

POTOSI, Boliva — Missionaries from the Bolivia Cochabamba Mission recently distributed more than 100 hygiene kits to children from three day-care centers in impoverished areas of Potosi.

Most of the children don't have toothbrushes in their homes and never visit a dentist except to have a decayed tooth pulled, according to Marianne Kartchner of the Satelite Ward, Potosi Bolivia Stake. The youngsters are often seen in school with swollen cheeks due to abscessed teeth.

Each of the kits contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, a washcloth and soap. Each child will keep his kit at the day-care centers where teachers can help them develop healthy oral hygiene habits, Sister Kartchner said.
