New mission presidents

Seven more mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency to begin their service about July 1. Assignments were announced in the March 4 issue of Church News. The new leaders are:

Calvin W Allred, 58, Texas Houston South Mission; Willcox 2nd Ward, St. David Arizona Stake; counselor in the Arizona Tucson Mission presidency; former stake president and counselor, bishop and counselor, high councilor and missionary in the Andes South Mission. Attorney. Born in Logan, Utah, to Wells M and Loriol Cox Allred. Married Susan Roana Owens, eight children.

A seminary teacher, Sister Allred is a former ward Relief Society president and counselor, counselor in a ward Young Women presidency and Young Women adviser. Born in Panguitch, Utah, to David Kern and Grace Beckstrom Owens.

Carl Leroy Cook, 51, Argentina Neuquen Mission; Sharon Park 2nd Ward, Orem Utah Sharon Park Stake; former stake president and counselor, bishop, high councilor and missionary in the Argentina Rosario Mission. Civil Engineer, RB&G Engineering. Born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Carl Willis and Marjean Fackrell Cook. Married Susan Marie Haurand, five children.

A ward Relief Society president, Sister Cook is a former counselor in a ward Young Women presidency, ward Relief Society secretary and teacher, and ward Young Women camp director. Born in Seattle, Wash., to Henry A. and Margarethe Elisabeth Biehl Haurand.

Kenneth Leroy DuVall, 53, Spain Bilbao Mission; Bennion Heights 5th Ward, Bennion Heights Utah Stake; gospel doctrine teacher; former stake president, bishop and counselor, stake executive secretary and missionary in the Chile Mission. Vice president, Sweet Candy Company. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Presley Arthur DuVall and Marie Black. Married Mary Beth Cummings, five children.

A ward Young Women president, Sister DuVall is a former ward Primary president and counselor, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency and Relief Society teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Joseph Lorraine and Joye Jensen Cummings.

Robert Edward Quinn, 60, Australia Adelaide Mission; Ann Arbor 2nd Ward, Ann Arbor Michigan Stake; counselor in the stake presidency; former counselor in the New York Rochester Mission presidency, bishop, high councilor and missionary in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission. Professor, University of Michigan. Born in Providence, R.I., to George Francis and Mary Margaret Rosa Quinn. Married Delsa Brown, six children.

A ward activities committee chairman, Sister Quinn is a former stake Young Women president, ward Relief Society and Young Women president, and missionary in the New England States Mission. Born in Shelley, Idaho, to Austin Samuel and Elida Olava Berg Brown.

Bryan Skelton, 64, Singapore Mission; Hull 2nd Ward, Hull England Stake; counselor in the stake presidency; former counselor in stake presidencies, bishop and missionary in the Africa West and Philippines Micronesia Areas. Retired chief superintendent of police. Born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England; son of Edwin and Audrey Robinson Skelton. Married Christine Stone, eight children.

A ward Relief Society president, Sister Skelton is a former stake Relief Society president, stake public affairs director and missionary in the Africa West and Philippines Micronesia Areas. Born in Hull, England, to Frederick James and Elsie Howard Stone.

Carlos Amancio Solis, 50, Peru Piura Mission; Los Olivos Ward, Lima Peru Puente Piedra Stake; stake president; former counselor in the Peru Trujillo and Peru Lima South Mission presidencies, bishop and high councilor. Zone Supervisor of Operations & Maintenance for the Church. Born in Huacrachuco, Peru, to Ulises Solis Espinoza and Mauricia Reyes Tarazona. Married Betty Quispe Carbajal, three children.

Sister Solis is a former ward Primary and Young Women president, and counselor in ward Relief Society and Young Women presidencies. Born in San Pedro, Peru, to Remigio Quispe Espinoza and Dolores Carbajal Ayquipa de Quispe.

Christopher Waddell, 46, Spain Barcelona Mission; Carmel Valley Ward, Del Mar California Stake; stake president; former bishop and counselor, high councilor and missionary in the Spain Barcelona Mission. First vice president of Investments at Merrill Lynch. Born in Los Angeles, Calif., to Wayne William and Joann Barbara Fisher Waddell. Married Carol Stansel, four children.

A member of the Scout committee, Sister Waddell is a former counselor in a stake Young Women presidency, ward Primary president and counselor, and counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency. Born in Redondo Beach, Calif., to John Charles and June Renee Clark Stansel.
