New mission presidents

Seven more mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency to begin their service about July 1. Assignments were announced in the March 4 issue of Church News. The new leaders are:

Douglas Milo Andrus, 64, Nevada Las Vegas West Mission; Pioneer Ward, Idaho Falls Idaho Eagle Rock Stake; stake president; former counselor in a stake presidency, counselor in a stake Young Men presidency, counselor in a bishopric, stake mission president, ward Young Men president and missionary in the Eastern States Mission. Owner, Doug Andrus Distributing. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Douglas Milo and Veatrice M. Nelson Andrus. Married Deanna Ruth Daw, 13 children.

A Sunday School teacher, Sister Andrus is a former ward Relief Society president; ward Primary teacher, pianist and chorister; ward organist and ward Young Women adviser. Born in Shelley, Idaho, to Arvil Edwin and Nola Thompson Daw.

Steven Don Bennion, 64, New York New York City South Mission; Cedar 9th Ward, Cedar City Utah West Stake; high councilor; former regional representative, counselor in stake presidencies, bishop and counselor, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Scottish Mission. President, Southern Utah University. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lowell Lindsay and Lela Merle Colton Bennion. Married Marjorie Hopkins, five children.

A ward Relief Society board member, Sister Bennion is a former counselor in stake and ward Primary presidencies, ward Primary president, counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency and Relief Society teacher. Born in Vernal, Utah, to Clair Ross and Voneta Millett Hopkins.

Philip Lavon Collins, 55, Russia Moscow South Mission; Las Sendas Ward, Mesa Arizona Salt River Stake; Sunday School teacher; former counselor in the Hungary Budapest Mission presidency, stake president, bishop, branch president and missionary in the Philippine Mission. Retired president Alcoa Russia. Born in Safford, Ariz., to Walter William and Eunice Isabelle Sanders Collins. Married Tricia Larson, six children.

A Sunday School teacher, Sister Collins is a former ward Relief Society and Young Women president, branch Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president and seminary teacher. Born in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Rulon M. and Marilyn Payne Larson.

Gardner Jacobsen, 63, Canada Halifax Mission; Glendora 1st Ward, Glendora California Stake; counselor in the stake presidency; former bishop, high councilor, stake executive secretary, temple ordinance worker and missionary in the England London Mission. Self-employed business consultant. Born in San Diego, Calif., to Sylvan Irvine and Birdie Gardner Jacobsen. Married Lillian Robinson, five children.

Fouchard Pierre-Nau, 33, Haiti Port-Au-Prince Mission; Petionville Ward, Port-au-Prince Haiti Stake; counselor in the Haiti Port-Au-Prince Mission presidency; former counselor in a bishopric, stake mission president and missionary in the Haiti Port-au-Prince Mission. Self-employed. Born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, to Albert Lizaire and Jeannette Lundy. Married Regine Jean Baptiste, three children.

Wilkins, 58, Brazil Sao Paulo East Mission; American Fork 30th Ward, American Fork Utah East Stake; stake president; former bishop and counselor, high councilor, Varsity Scout coach and missionary in the Brazil South Mission. Retired CPA and managing partner, Squire & Co. Born in Provo, Utah, to Lewis Delbert and Mary Virginia Lunceford Wilkins. Married Christine Ivins, six children.

A Church service missionary at the Provo Missionary Training Center, Sister Wilkins is a former stake Primary president and counselor, counselor in ward Primary and Young Women presidencies and Primary teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Heber Grant and Virginia Mae Woodhouse Ivins.

Jorge Fernando Zeballos, 50, Chile Concepcion South Mission; Angamos Ward, Antofagasta Chile Stake; former Area Seventy, regional representative, stake president, bishop and missionary in the Chile Concepcion Mission. Manager of corporate affairs, BHPBilliton Escondida. Born in Ovalle, Chile, to Alberto and Ines Ortiz de Zeballos. Married Carmen Gloria Valenzuela, five children.

A Primary teacher, Sister Zeballos is a former ward Relief Society and Primary president and Relief Society teacher. Born in Rancagua, Chile, to Victor Vicente and Maria Cristina Barrera de Valenzu.
