July 28 — Family History Library free classes on LDS ancestral research, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Family History Library, located to the west of Temple Square. To view schedules online go to www.familysearch.org. Walk-ins are welcome.

July 31-Aug. 3 — Brigham Young University Family History and Genealogy Conference: Strengthening Ties That Bind Families Together Forever, in the BYU Conference Center, times vary (ce.byu.edu/cw/cwgen/, (801) 422-8925 or (801) 422-4853). At-the-door: registrations are accepted on a space-available basis.

July 31 — Smith Brothers Trio will perform nostalgic folk music of the 1960s at 8 p.m in the Brigham Young Historic Park, southeast corner of State Street and Second Avenue. All ages are welcome to attend any of the park concerts. Free admission (801) 240-33-23.

Aug. 1 — Garden Talks in the Park — Roses: Queen of the Garden, pruning and basic rose care, one-hour presentation by expert horticulturist Roger Keddington at 7:30 p.m., Brigham Young Historic Park. Free admission (801) 240-5916.
