LDS Business College held its 122nd Commencement Exercises on April 9 in the Assembly Hall at Temple Square in Salt Lake City.
Elder Paul V. Johnson of the Seventy and Commissioner of the Church Education System was the keynote speaker. He encouraged the graduates to remain steadfast and optimistic in spite of trying economic times.
"Your future is not determined by the conditions around you," Elder Johnson said. "It is determined by your faith, your choices and your efforts. Yes, you live in challenging times, but . . . you don't have to be carried along in the current of the times. The Lord can and will help you set your own course. The challenges you face will serve to strengthen you as you move forward with your life. Each of you has a bright future, a future you can't fully comprehend at this time."
The commencement exercises were the first under the direction of the new college president J. Larry Richards. A total of 336 two-year degrees and 185 certificates were awarded to graduates.
