New mission presidents

Six new mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service about July 1, 2009.

Alma Brent Belliston, 62, and Diane Braden Belliston, six children, Maryland Baltimore Mission; Greenhill Ward, Meridian Idaho Stake. Brother Belliston is a temple sealer and gospel doctrine teacher and a former stake president and counselor, bishop, high councilor and missionary in the Australia Mission. Instructor at Boise State University and consultant. Born in Nephi, Utah, to Lester Howell and Leona Bertina Peterson Belliston. Sister Belliston is a temple ordinance worker and counselor in the ward Relief Society presidency and a former counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency and ward Primary teacher. Born in Ontario, Ore., to Joseph Pat and Lois Edith Montgomery Braden.

Jay Glen Layton, 59, and Edith Diane Howard Layton, four children, South Dakota Rapid City Mission; Thatcher 3rd Ward, Thatcher Arizona Stake. Brother Layton is a temple ordinance worker and a former stake president and counselor, high councilor, ward Young Men president, elders quorum president and missionary in the Northern States Mission. Farmer, self-employed. Born in Safford, Ariz., to Glen Layton Jr. and Marjorie Phillips Layton. Sister Layton is a temple ordinance worker and a former ward Young Women president and counselor, ward Primary president and counselor, and counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency. Born in Safford, Ariz., to Alma Verdell and Nelda Jo Shiflet Howard.

William Henrick Nelson, 63, and Christine Miles Nelson, eight children, New York New York South; Monument Park 12th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park North Stake. Brother Nelson is an Aaronic Priesthood adviser and a former stake president and counselor, bishop, high councilor and missionary in the Italian Mission. President and chief executive officer, Intermountain Healthcare. Born in Cedar City, Utah, to Richard Henrick and Juanita Miller Nelson. Sister Nelson is a ward Relief Society emergency preparation specialist and a former ward Relief Society president, ward Primary teacher and counselor, ward Young Women adviser, Cub Scout leader and nursery leader. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edwin Ruthven Miles IV and Corinne Godbe Miles.

Edison Pavan, 57, and Marcia Fajiolli Pavan, two children, Brazil Porto Alegre North Mission; Rio Claro 1st Ward, Rio Claro Brazil Stake. Brother Pavan is a stake president and a former counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, stake Young Men president and branch president. General manager, Paintscreen. Born in Rio Claro, Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Mario and Anice Chacur Pavan. Sister Pavan is a ward Sunday School teacher and a former institute teacher, ward Relief Society president and seminary teacher. Born in Rio Claro, Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Francisco and Thereza Salton Gallego Fagiolli.

Lindsay Alan Thomas, 49, and Sylvia Frampton Thomas, four children, North Carolina Charlotte Mission; Herriman 3rd Ward, Herriman Utah West Stake. Brother Thomas is a stake president and a former counselor in a stake presidency, bishop and counselor, high councilor, ward mission leader, ward Young Men president and missionary in the California San Bernardino Mission. Brother Torgan is a counselor in the Brazil Brasilia Mission presidency and a former counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, high priests group leader, bishop and missionary in the Brazil Sao Paulo North Mission. Sister Torgan is a stake Relief Society president and a former stake Young Women president, counselor in a stake Primary presidency, ward Relief Society and Primary president and missionary in the Brazil Rio de Janeiro Mission. Born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to Wilmar Gastao Pacheco de and Rosa Olinda do Carmo Rodriguez Caldas.
