Gerry Avant

Gerry Avant is editor of the LDS Church News. In addition to her editing duties, she has gone on assignments throughout the United States and to countries. She has won state and regional awards for photography. A native of Georgia, she received an associate's degree from Brewton Parker College and a bachelor's degree from BYU, where she did post-graduate studies. She taught high school English before she joined the Deseret News staff.
